“UNIQUE” LARRY

In 2003, with determination and a few borrowed dollars, Larry founded Unique Upholstery Carpet and Rug Cleaning. Having moved back to Chicago from Virginia, he began only with himself, a truck, and his phone. He ran local ads informing potential clients on “how to choose a carpet cleaner” and doing things the right way to reduce frequency. Adding his humorous twist in the process.

Folks took notice and UNIQUE gained traction. As jobs booked further out Larry expanded his staff and fleet. He led by care and example, mentoring his employees into long-term professionals.

With focus on quality and professionalism, Larry began the slogan “We never cut corners, we clean them!”. Recognizing the need for pet clean-up services, he expanded his advertising into the “Pet Problem? No Problem” motto following a suggestion from a close friend. His dog, Willy, serves as Unique’s “urinator” mascot and Larry himself as “the terminator”. Their large trademark smiles have made them local legends.

The future at Unique is Sparkling. In December 2024, Larry sold the business to Edgar, his longtime team lead. His dedication and experience earned him approval to continue Unique’s legacy.

Larry’s vibrant charm and genuine nature towards people has helped build a solid foundation for years to come. Now known as “Sunshine Larry”, he enjoys Florida with Beth, Bubby, and Willy. He continues consulting, making us laugh, and remains integral to Unique’s branding.
